You probably do have a filter on there, you just can't see it easy like you can with a carbed car (he is used to dealing with crabs). The filter will be along the frame rail near the rear of the car.

I thought that typo was an intentional friendly jibe. :P

Definitely swing it by JD's if he's willing to look at it and help you out, if there's something wrong he'll probably find it. If it actually does not have a fuel filter that could be part of the problem, if trash has gotten into the injectors then tuned or not you won't get consistent or accurate fuel delivery. Get the tune up crap sorted first so you know that's not the issue.

After that, it would be good to know what cam/gears it has. You says it has PORTED TFS R's? Who ported them and how much? Stock box R's are quite large for a mild 302(smaller cam/gears). If you have the right cam and a good gear(something like that would love a 4.10 or better) Then it should absolutely scream up to 7k+ rpm(if it's built right). But if it has a mismatched combo with lower compression and the wrong cam, with stock gears, it's going to be an absolute dog at low rpm....which is where you said you were trying to nail it from.

Have you run a compression test on it?

The heads were ported by Total Engine Airflow, at .500 lift #1 - 303.1 #2 - 218.9. It has no problem getting to high rpms, its just dumbass slow to get their. I plan on bringing it by JD sometime soon.

Well, you know the heads are done right then. What do you know about the cam? Have you verified what gear it has?
