Definitely advance timing. With basic bolt-ons (intake, x-pipe, ignition) you have some nice supporting mods, and can up your timing a considerable amount. I have the mods mentioned above, and on 91 Chevron Octane, i ran 21 degrees (11 advance from stock 10) and had no knock, and ran like this for 6-7 months with no issues. Even better, you can get some Higher Octane fuel, and go a degree or two further. I have a '94 GT by the way. One of my close friends has a '95 with ignition only, and is running 10% Methanol/Chevron 91 mix in the tank at 22 degrees timing, and he's dead even with me and all of my mods.

The best bang for the buck is definatly nitrous as stated many times before in the thread. (with supporting mods)
add better flowing intake and exaust components and a good short gear and you`ll have a whole different ride!
Just changing the tq multiplier in the rear axel will have you thinking you hit pay-dirt!
With a 4.10 and stock tq numbers you can get around 2300ftlbs tq per axel upon launch!
dont get that confused with a dyno number!!!! thats what you`ll put thru ur axel at a 3000 rpm or so launch!
With that said dont go crazy with the rearend gearing, can cause issues now and later, and if you have a 5spd you wont like a gear that short anyway!
If you have an aode with the stock ratio planetary, then by all means get a 4.10 or close to it!

I'd say 4.10s is the upper limit for low gears in a stock 5L.
They don't make much power after 4800 and unless you have a very tall rear tire. You'll be redline in 4rth gear or 3rd with an auto through the traps.

3.73 gears are a good option on the street as well.I've tried 2.73,3.55 4.10 and now 3.73 's .To me ,and everone has their own opinion on this , 3.73 is the best for take off and highway driving combined.Don't forget exhaust also shorty headers and high fow muffler like flowmaster .
