I just put in a complete new engine and the gas pedal is very stiff. There is NO smooth acceleration. I have to literally push the pedal down with some force and the car jumps foward in first second and third. I think it might be the cable but not sure. I was hoping to get just a little play so shifting can be smooth for a city curise.

disconnect the cable from the tb and see if its still stiff. if so, check for kinks. if its run nicely, not kinked, and still stiff while disconnected from the TB.. replace it

Was it the cable? If so, you know what to fix. If the cable wasn't the problem, was everything new....intake, TB, etc? I had a 70mm TB that someone had put new shaft bushings in and they used the wrong bushings. The butterfly shaft was so tight you could barely turn it by hand.

OK the cable seems good. Yep everything is brand new. I got a holley 75 mm tb and new egr spacer. There is a screw thats adjusable on the bottom of the tb if I adjust that would that help give a little bit of give to the gas peddle?

That screw may be backed out so far. The throttle blade is getting stuck in the bore.

Is it clean?
