i blew at least one head gasket on my 88 lx. the stock heads have 63k on them. the car basically overheated i guess you could say. the temp gauge never actually made it into the red, but came very close. the car still runs good until the temp gauge starts creeping. i have a crap ton of coolant in my oil to. im doin felpro multi steel layered gaskets, and arp studs. so i need to bring these stock iron heads to the machine shop to get inspected? just trying to cut down on cost. thanks
i would say no. although a valve job wouldnt hurt, and check the cost of what your planning OR cutting grooves to use the felpro 1006 o-ringed gaskets.
I would check them with a a feeler gauge and square. The valve seals may have been affected too. A race car, I wouldn't worry about those. On a street car, they may need some attention.
