Can a stock motor do this?
I just bought a 89 GT and its ignition is completely stock. It doesn't even have an aftermarket exhaust. The manifold is stock and the heads are old and rusted. However, when I floored the car it went to 7000 rpm, was still pulling, and was begging for more. I thought a stock motor would be conked out by 6000. I've revved it to 7000 a lot and to 6500 even more. The car also runs like crap below 2000 rpm. I'm sure the car has a chip, but can a stock bottom and top end rev to 7000 and still pull?

yes.... and thats why a lot of people will tell you , you have to shift into 5th with a 5 speed and 4.10's
the rpm i really car about is shift point. 5200 is a good place for a shift lite with stock heads and cam. when it lites and you react, then actually complete the shift... your about 5500 on the nut
so just an msd shift lite works great. but if you want a tach too... get a monster with the light built in it
no proform.. you wont like it
