Default 5.0 exhaust

Just got a fox with the 5.0 and want a mean sound from her. What type and what size header/exhaust should I go with. I want good performance too, any advise would be great.

Check the exhaust thread. There's quite a few setups there.

I agree with ^^^. Check out some youtube videos also. Look at Magnaflow Magnapacks, they got a real nice sound to them. I too want mean sound, and I'm thinking that those are what I'll end up with. I like the straight through mufflers/glass packs or stainless pack.

You've got Pypes, SLP, Mac, Borla, Spintech, Magnaflow...the list is basically endless, it all depends on the sound you want and what you're willing to spend.

if cost is an issue to you, go MAC

mostly.. it's personal pref to what people buy. if they hadd bbk on their old car they will buy bbk again

mac saves you a little money... but dont go too cheap like summit brand or flowtech, they are junk

basically on a stock to 400 hp car you want 1 5/8" headers , and dont bother with shorty or stubby, just get long tubes. then 2 1/2" inch all the way back

smallblocks rely on exhaust scavenging, so if you go too big... you'll lose hp, you need some backpressure

When I did my exhaust there was some kind of flowmasters on it that I switched out to SLP LM1s. They made it sound a lot better, and louder. The catted h- pipe and the lm1s were good, but I wanted something more. So off went the catted h- pipe and on went the O/R x- pipe. The exhaust is pretty loud, and raspy now. I love the way it sounds! But just get on youtube and watch as many videos as you can to see what exhaust setup you want. And check the thread on here of course, lol.
