advice on making sure/top end...

Okay, bought my car with them saying it had a hawks racing 331 stroker kit with racing pistons & x303 cam. Everything else that was said i can see it has. And I can hear it has an x303 cam. Only problem is the 331 stroker kit. Should I take it to a shop to get it checked? I want to know for sure before getting a new head/cam/intake top end kit. Which is another question. If it is a 331 kit, does afr 185cc heads or victor jr heads sound good? With a trick flow R intake, and 30lb injectors, and a comp cam custom made for all my internals (i will know all of them if i bring them to a shop im assuming?)

Thank you! Trying to do this right by asking on here. Currently stock E7 heads, x303 cam, gt40 intake, and "claimed" (but pretty sure, seller reliable) 331 stroker kit... runs crappy lol no power after 4000 rpm! choked out...

u could check the bore when u pull heads still would need to check rod length. i have victor jrs on my 347 and relly pleased with them nothing wrong with 185 either.

i run the 185's on mine but in all reality if I were to purchase a new set of heads, I'd go for the tfs FAC 190 heads or a set of 205's

If I were to build my engine N/A again. I'd get the TFS FAC heads and sent them to fox lake. followed by a trip to CI to have Jay flow th heads himself to get EXACT specs on the heads....

But I just love wasting money like that.. :)

^^^I'm done building/modding for a while...no matter how fast the car goes, the itch is never satisfied and with each new itch/territory it breaks into comes a whole new list of things to buy...lol...BTW...did you run the other day?????????

I've talked to some people. When i take my heads off and check to see if it is really a 331, and if it is.... Would The piston type make a difference in what heads I can run? Like can I run the AFR 185 heads if i was using any piston with my 331? Just wondering. (or the Trick flow FAC heads) Would I have to Check the piston type? Can you check what piston it is by looking at the top of them after removing the heads?

11.99 requires a scatter shield and 5 point harness. 11.49 requires a cage. (wonder how you can have a harness with no cage)
