Driveshaft yolk question....

Driveshaft yolk question....
I posted this in my build thread but not everyone reads that all the time so.............
Just replaced the tail shaft seal and noticed that the driveshaft yolk has a groove about 2 inches wide that runs around the shaft. It looks like its machined on there but I have never seen one before and that isn't on my 83's driveshaft. I was going to swap them but couldn't get the bolts broke loose on it from where I was laying. There is only one section that looks like it is actually riding the tail shaft bushing that is about a half inch wide where the groove smooths back up to the shafts normal diameter. Its not that deep of a groove either but still, if its not supposed to be there its not supposed to be there.

The red is where the "groove" is and probably isn't that deep but still every little bit counts. The black part is where the shiny wear section is on it. I should have actually gotten a pic but I didn't. I was in a hurry.

If you get figured out why this happened could you let me know? My brothers 86 yolk plained down like that and none of the "Specialists" could tell us why, they all said different things, which none made sense to me. But we swapped in an aluminum drive shaft and new yolk and no grinding down, yet.

This driveshaft came with the car and so did the transmission. IDK the history of it or anything else but I am working with what I have. The 83's driveshaft has brand new u joints in it as well so there is another perk when I get to doing it.
