Default 1989 mustang convertible

So I've been looking around for cheap mustangs and came across this one. He said in the ad it had "frame rust issues". I looked it over and it didnt have any rust on the body, (although it was recently painted) he went over the strut towers with paint but I didnt see any holes. I looked all underneath the car, and amazingly it wasnt all that rusty...And I saw pictures of before it was painted, and saw no rust?

HOWEVER, When I looked underneath it there was a rust hole in the passenger floor pan. Anyways, it's got 92,00 on it, runs good, shifts good, decently clean, top wasnt too bad.

I just want to know if I will be wasting my time if the frame has rot on it, or if it's worth repairing? (I dont even know if the frame is rotted, could just be the floor pan)

eh, i'd steer clear of a car with rust issues that was recently painted... he's hiding something

and with holes in the floor, god knows what else is rotted out...

i'd save for something cleaner

the heat didnt work, couldn't the heater core be leaking and rotted out the floor pan?

haha agreed. i saw one with a similar ulgy paint job on my drive to work today. the top was pearl white and the ground effects were red..........

my ps floor pan has a section of rot about 5x3 but it cant be seen inside the car (i looked under the carpet). but the rest of my car has none.. so id inspect it more thoroughly

Now thats what I like to hear!! Something positive. I dont think its THAT big of a deal, If I got it, I would basically be buying it for the drivetrain and tires, although I really do think the rust can be fixed. Have to get it on a lift to really see it. It's not the end of the world if the body is shot, lol

^^^^^^^^I've been where your attempting to go , and been there more than once, open your pocket book over the toilet, bought my 89 vert for 4800.00 and it was really only worth half that, to get all the stuff working to oem spec and restore it to decent shape and yes it had rust in the front corners and cracked floor pans, last time I talled reciepts close to 12k invested now, and that's done right not the harry homeowner hack way. that car needs 10k easily in parts to get it to my standard
