im doing a gt40p swap with the gt40 upper and lower is this cam to radical with this combo? im wanting it to be very driveable but very fast, my car has the stock 308 gears and clutch.

3.08 + gt-40p + gt-40 intake won't be a recipe for a very fast car IMO.......if you wish to have a car that carries a decent idle keep the duration /overlap down, I wanted the best of both worlds so I went with a custom cam whose duration is around 214-218, so it has a noticible lope but yet carries a good idle and drivibility is good while lift is over .560 and the car runs mid 12's with a bunch of junk slapped together..lol

i think u mean under a .560 lift right? idk i was planning on camming it and i cant seem to find a cam thats not to radical but makes a little more upper end and has a fairly small lift so i dont have to worry about ptvc.

thanks guys that was really helpful info i know a custom cam would probably be better but this is going to be a cheap build until i can afford the good stuff lol looks like the comp 270 is a pretty good choice for the gt40ps so i think i might go with it

how about just not buying a cam until you get the heads, intake, and exhaust you want. why buy everything twice?

do it once do it right. btw had the xe270hr cam on 289 heads with a typhoon intake and the car made ok power but that motor would have mroe compression than yours. PTV was no where near an issue. like mjr said, you want something with relatively low duration and higher than .560 lift. but for that kind of cam to work well you need some big heads.



save your money, buy good heads first.

well i called comp cams and they recommended me this cam i was pretty surprized lol he said that this cam was his favorite for those cars and im not going to be drag racing it that much itll mostly be a daily driver. and gt40s arent really good heads either i know that, so if i went with a big cam id probably hurt the hp/tq rather than increase it.
