Default 2011 5.0 crate motor...

Was just reading that Ford is about to introduce it for like $6999. Anyone thinkin about doing the swap? I guess our Fox Body 5.0's would still really be a '5.0' with the swap, eh!? Now I just need $6999 hahaha

dont forget a transmission, wiring harness and hours of fabrication and custom tuning to integrate all the complex electronic systems of the new 5.0 into the fox...

neat idea, but it will prolly run alot more than 7K

I agree. While its not a bad Idea for a 4.6 guy that just needs some computer/harness mods for a foxes it is still a fairly expensive way to make the power. Most of the things I've read (obviously no first hand experience) most builders don't think it will handle much more than the 3v's (500-550rwhp) because of the rods.

Soon enough the low mile gt's will be poping up wreaked on ebay with harnesses and transmissions...

exactly, hell i came to realize just how archaic the foxes are as i was installing my white face gauges. the instrument cluster alone looks like it was designed and built in the late 60s... haha, theres nothing to it almost

your right, i am forgetting about stuff like suspension, fuel system and brakes.

plus integrating the electric power steering....

and fabbing up a k member, possibly having to rework the trans tunnel, hydraulic clutch setup...

...better make it 20

they will probably come up with a wiring system were all the complicated wiring systems are cut out. I have a wiring harness for my 04 cobra engine that only connects to a computer, engine harness, keyed switch and a couple other things.... just a bare bones system.
its cool and everything, but to tell you the truth doing a swap like this (and doing it right, especially if its your first one) is REALLY expensive, and you run into a lot of little problems along the way

i wouldnt say that is totaly true, cause they already have turbo kits for the new 5.0 that puts the car in the mid 500hp range (at the tire) so thats 600+ at the crank

While I love the new DOHC 5.0, I've never been an advocate of mod swaps. The total cost after everything is said and done(which is even higher in classics since you have to convert the front suspension to MII and cut the shock towers up and reweld for clearance) doesn't justify it. You could build a 347 for half as much money that makes the same power.

Does anyone even make swap headers for them yet?

Still, at $7,000(gotta love mass production) it's a great swap for 4.6 guys, like was mentioned.

eh mod swaps are more expensive, but every other fox has a stroker or something in it.... not to many foxes have a DOHC thats why i am doing it.

And you dont need swap headers, all you need is the correct combination of headers on the engine that will clear the frame, its the same way with the 2004 cobra engine im putting in,
They dont make swap headers, but some headers fit, others dont
