Default 1989 GT - Clicking Convertible Top

I have a 1989 GT convertible that I bought last year...it's in really good shape. The top is new but the motors and pumps aren't. Today as I was putting the top up and the motor just kind of stopped working just as it was almost up. I got the top all the way up and locked-in but now the motor clicks in the back-center when I push/pull the switch (the hazard light switch also still works), as opposed to the usual winding noise that used to be there. Did the motor just crap out?

Any ideas are helpful. Thanks in advance.

(my first post so im hoping i did this the right way)

have someone hold the switch in the on position to open the top and tap the motor cse with a hammer , if it starts working = time to get a new motor

Default hammer

similar to banging the starter with a hammer then? I knew that noise sounded familiar.

thanks for your help.
