Mustang automatic wont shift into third gear, does fine from 1st to 2nd but then will not shift further. I have tried to manually bypass third but it will not shift. Took it to mechanic and it will not connect to computer to check diagnostics. Mechanic already changed out the solenoids and that did not fix the problem. Just need to connect to computer to find problem....any ideas???

your mustang is OBD I, OBD II was 96+ in the mustangs. The OBD II ports are there but not functional in the 5.0's, I believe they work on the v6's though

Milton nailed it. Now take your car to a shop that has a clue.(Ford Dealership knows Fords and will not waste time money)
