which rearend

I have an 88 convertible and took the stock rear out and put one in from an 86 SSP, the housings are the same, it depends on the the gear, whether or not is has trac lock and the condition of the axles. If you fund a good rear and have it rebuilt you will be fine regardless of the year it came from. I would say anywhere between 86-93.

any 87-93 8.8 will work. Sometimes you can get lucky and find one with gears already installed. If you wanted to swap over to rear disc you can swap in a T bird turbo coupe's and they usually have gears from the factory. When you do swap them you will have to do some brake line work though. The 7.5 comes out on the passenger side while the 8.8 comes out onto the center of the rear end.
