Default clutch issues...cable or clutch?

ok, I have a 95 5.0 and the shifting is getting progressively harder to make happen. It's to the point that I have to have the clutch ALL the way down to the floor and even then, it grinds some times. But, I get no release until it gets almost 80% or more pressed. Is this a clutch or a cable. My buddy says it is probably the cable because of the issue. It's all stock. Any help would be great cause this thing is my daily driver and it is getting really bad. Thank you for all your help!

it could be the cable , get under your car and look at it, or it could be to gromet on your firewall that the cable passes threw. the stock gromet is rubber and falls apart with old age . it will be right next to the break booster. see if its their and if their is any play in it.

When my clutch started failing I was having the same problems as you.
The shifting was harder to make happen as time went by.I ended up replacing
my clutch and everything is great now.Upgrade and purchase a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch like I did.My Centerforce clutch is the best clutch I ever had!
Also install a new Ford OEM clutch cable, aftermarket quadrant and firewall adjuster.

The first question have you adjusted the cable? If not adjust it first then if that doens't work check for damage to the cable especially on the ends look for fraying or broken strands. I would not go buy a 400+ dollar centerforce clutch before you make sure that your clutch is actually the problem.

stock cable ?

aftermarket cable ?

did you adjust it yet ?

you want it to start engaging at about 1 1/2" off the floor
