Default need direction on build

hey guys i know i dont show up alot (mostly on the Kia Forum) but i have finally got some parts in and need some help to finish the parts pile before i start the build.... FIRST i bought the Trickflow 360hp Top End Kit in black, msd 6al2,msd pro bullit race distributer, e-core coil, 70mm trickflow throttle body ... i need to start buying for the bottom end, i want a higher compression nitrous fed motor, budget is about 2K for the bottom end and need suggestions... ALSO the rumor around where i am is the 5.0 block can only handle 500hp is that true? also what are our options for tuning (hand-helds, piggybacks, ETC)... now i know the AOD wont hold the power stock BUT is there a way to build it to handle the power im after?

I have heard that 302 blocks in excess of 500 horse will spit down the middle. That is why Ford introduced the A4 block. You can build a really beefy A4 based engine or buy a built stroker short block from DSS or another company. I never bought one or dealt with DSS, so hit the forums and check around. If you are going to run nitrous, get a MSD Multi-Step retard. As for the AOD, what will the car be used for. You might want to use a C-4. They use less horse than an AOD. I ran a Level 10 AOD with a Neal Chance converter in my LSC since 1993. Worked fine but i decided to upgrade. Since the car was not a daily driver, i yanked the AOD out. I had FB Transmissions in Long Island build me an AO3 with a Pro Torque 3500 stall verter. The trans will hold up to 600 horse. Basically an AOD case w/C-6 internals (no overdrive), wide ratio gearset, manual valve body and a transbrake. The car went from a 2.14 60ft average to a 1.81 average (best 1.79). That is coming off the footbrake a 2500. Haven't even raced it with the transbrake yet. Since my car is still speed density i haven't used a tuner.Hope this helps.
