Default Dual stage cam?

Ive been searching for info on a possible cam upgrade on this forum i keep on running into people talking about dual stage cams. What is the difference between a dual stage cam and a single stage? why do some people think these are so much better for the 5.0s?

Its dual pattern not stage. Means intake and exaust lofts and duration arent the same. The ex is favored in most dual pattern cam.

Because most engines need different intake and exhaust flows to make best power. It's extremely rare to find an engine that has requirements for something even close to a single pattern cam.

As an example, the custom grind in my 302 is .598 lift intake, .578 exhaust, and the duration at .050 is 218 intake and 230 exhaust.
