Finally made my mind up on a Carb
Well guys, need some input on this carb I picked up. I got a smokin' deal on a proform 750 circletrack carb. The thing retails through Summit Racing for I believe $690 dollars. I picked it up for 200 and got another Proform body with it and a nice Billet Aluminum throttle cable bracket brace for it too. I was going to go through CSU or buy a brand new BG Demon Blowthru. I am going to do the whole "Hangar 18" method on it myself, I figured it would be great knowledge to know for tuning wise. I am not familiar with Proform so I dont know a great deal about them but from what I hear they are close or similiar to Holleys. Has anyone on here had bad luck with them?? I just couldnt pass this deal up with the money that I was saving!! I just need to know if anyone has ran one before, in general on even N/A, and what tunability issues I may run into. Like to hear you guys chime in with your thoughts even if they are negative. Happy New Year guys, and make it home safe tonight!!

Well hears the plan- from what I heard the proform main bodys flow more than what they are printed for- My car is only running 10# of boost anyways. This carb will be perfect for it, if it is too small I can just buy an 850 body and throttle plate and go from there. When I was talking with Kevin at CSU he said on my current setup that a 750 would be absolutely sufficient, and when I step up to 13# plus then I would have to upgrade to 800 cfm +++! So its not like I am planning to run 20# plus like 5.0kid's plans. My car is going to be a street warrior this summer and ya I plan to take it to the strip every chance I get but all in all I really cant afford to break it so that is why I am only running 10# and that is where I will probably keep it for a few years. I would rather keep it safe than have to tow it home everytime I take it out.

750 is small for a blow thru on a 408, and it's not even a blow through carb, so it's not calibrated correctly. You'd be mighty brave to run that thing, and can potentially do a lot of damage. It's set up for circle track, not blow thru street/strip.
Contact Quick Fuel(Proform/QFT same place), and see what you need to do to get that thing setup correctly. Prolly a swap to an 850 annular body and either put restrictors in current metering blocks or swap them out for proper calibration.

Thats exactly what I am in the process of doing. Already in the process of ordering parts for the conversion. I am going to build the 750 though and see how it handles the fuel, if it doesnt then I will definately upgrade to the 850.

Got it mocked up today- The purple doesn't look to bad I guess. Probably going to get it powdercoated blue though. Got the proper fittings, ordered all my parts for the Blow Thru conversion about an hour ago so should see them by tomorrow or Wednesday and I will start tearing into it!!
