Just picked up a fiberglass cowl hood for a steal of a deal, its brand new and has holes preformed in it for dzus fasteners. Heres the downside, my car has 19 year old original paint, and it is still like a black mirror, the paint is in very nice shape. How can i go about welding on dzus back plates to the fenders without messing up the paint?

Also if you have dzus fasteners on you car, please post pictures of how and where they are mounted. Thanks.

EDIT: Also if you are running dzus fasteners, please post what length you are using as well. Any help is appreciated.

Good to know, i was looking at a kit and it said weld on back plates, ill have to look for a rivet on kit. Pictures anyone?

They are normally attatched with rivets. Solids or cherrymax pull fastners I installed many but its on aircraft not fender im sure its the exact same. Has to be flish fastners to not interfere with any layer between the two parts being held together by them. If I think about it ill try an snap a shot and post it up.
