for the money your going to invest in putting that ohc engine in a 5.0, you could easily build up a nice engine to meet and or exceed your power goals. the SOHC 4.6 engines are usually good to somewhere like 300rwhp before you need to add boost to go furthrer. there really is not a lot of parts available for them and they are more difficult and expensive to work on...

id suggest you stay with an ohv engine. if you dont understand them, have someplace like fordstrokers.com build something up for you...

i dont own a mustang as of right now. my 03 gt got totaled about a month or two back and so would be buying a whole 'new' stang so no swap from OHV to OHC would occur. im not trying to call you out or anything but their are a lot of parts out there for the sohc and the dohc and they arent really that hard to build up. i didnt a cam swap on my sohc in the driveway over the weekend without any first hand experience.

I like the idea of buying a crate motor but that takes all the fun out of the build for me. i want to turn all the wrenches myself or it wouldnt be half the fun. if i was going to do that i might as well just go and by the new 2011 mustang.

We know they arent that hard to build it. Its just more expensive to make power with a sohc then a pushrod. Junkyard build 302 can make 300 to the wheels. Heads and cams on a 2v is gonna cost 3k+ if bought all new and just break 300 to the wheels.

well that i would agree with. my only problem is the junk yard route is i dont want to buy another persons problem plus i plan on boosting it and that couldnt handle that kind of stress.
