supercharger

I can get the Vortech V-2 SQ S-Trim 8-10psi for 2800 shipped from american muscle for my 90 5.0. My only mods are gt40 intake (and unverifiable westco pistons and ported stock heads, said it was rebuilt 50k ago, it runs VERY strong people have told me)

I was going to get a trick flow top end kit, but my knowledge in building engines is VERY limited, i am very mechanically inclined though, i know i can install a supercharger.

Would this supercharger be good for me? Please don't be biased and say you need to do the H/C/I first, once im at 300-330hp im staying there, so i may not need a H/C/i and i want it to be a sleeper now, stock cam.

anything other than the kit i would need? injectors, mass air?

would i DEFINITELY need a tune? and about how much hp to the wheels?

You can go the boost route as well. I wish I had done that first originally. Installation is pretty straightforward. If its the V2 as you said, you will have to tap the oil pan for the oil feed line. Easy to do, just takes time. The Vortech V3's come self lubricated and do not require this mod. It took me three days to do...in the summer heat....taking alot of breaks. Vortech is a tried and true brand and their reliability is excellent. Since your car is stock practically, you can get away using the kit's FMU with your stock 19lb injectors. The kit should come with a 255lph fuel pump. Your best bet would be to get 42lb injectors(keep the stock MAF or pick up a cheap 94-95 stock GT MAF) and have the car professionally tuned. You'd get the most out of your combo. With 8psi I'd imagine you'd make around 315rwhp-330rwhp. But it all depends on how aggressive the tune is.
Also American Muscle gives a discount to MF members. Just PM the guy!

So temporarly, I can just buy the kit, install it with nothing else, and not have to get a tune or anything? (with 19lb injectors temporarly)

They also have the low boost set-up for $800 less. It's the V3 Vortech as well. It's internally lubricated so you do not have to tap the oil pan. This alone will save you 2+hours and you won't have to worry about oil leaks or metal shavings in the pan. If you want more boost, throw on a smaller SC pulley and a UPR powerpipe.

well, i really want to break 300rwhp. I can easily do the oil pan tapping, my dad can help me. Is it worth it to get the v2? Can I run 8lb boost safly? Is there anything I should check on my motor now like compression test?

does the kit come with an FMU?? IF so don't use it and go straight to 42 lbs inj with calibrated maf and get a tune , I'm doing something simialar to you, only I'm at 300 rwhp with an h/c/i already and plan to add a v-1 with 10 psi , I will be running 42's and I will get a tune, I'll also be using a boost retard box, I'm only doing a tune to see where afr is throughout the full pull/ WOT

thats the same one im getting but on american muscle for ~300 cheaper. Would it be okay to use the FMU, then when I get enough money for 42lb injectors, matching mass air, and money for a tune, swap the FMU for all that? Does everything else in the kit look okay? (from the picture lol)

YOU COULD BUT i HAVE a friend who pulled 360 rwhp with a few bolt ons and 10 psi and due to the fmu he was rich down low and lean up high and he ran 24's so if you have 19's I wouldn't try it on the fmu = a bandaid for an inadequate fuel system and risk kabooooooom
