Valve reliefs in the 5.0

Since my last post didn't spark many answers, which I can't find any on the internet anywhere anyway... Here's my next question, I read somewhere that only H.O. motors came stock with valve reliefs in the pistons. Is this true? Just trying to identify more information about the motor I have. Thanks.

not true...next question

Was it normal for the year, 1995? I looked and haven't found any information on this engine yet. I'm still looking for the tag, or some type of identification number on the block. I'm still in the process of cleaning the block so maybe in the next couple of days I'll find it.

casting number is on the ear of the block by the starter, look for e7.. or f1.......and 95 has valve reliefs, 86 h.o's didn't

Ok thanks, I'll try to locate it there.

Well got the casting number this morning, not what I told it was. E7TE, which means 87 light truck I guess. I can't find much more info than that though. It looks pretty beat up to me, both sides of the cylinder skirt on nearly ever cylinder you can see where it looks like the rods have hit it, and every skirt has damage on the inside. Probably be better off getting another block to start off. Can't complain too much though, I got this motor for free.

the blocks didnt change year to year. just because its an E7 block doesnt mean its was made in 87. Just means the casting was made in 87. A 95 Mustang GT uses E7TE heads. Does that mean its a truck engine? No!
