Thumbs up Is an 89 5.0 28.8 oz or 50 oz?

Is an 89 5.0 28.8 oz or 50 oz imbalance? Just curious because I'm dropping a 351 in place of a blown up 306. Thanks

The 89 5.0 is 50, 351's are 28.

So if you're wondering if you can use your 50oz setup on the 351, the answer is no. Though you MIGHT be able to have the 351 setup rebalanced for 50oz setup, but I'm not sure on that one, you'd have to ask a balancer.

The windsor rotating assembly could be rebalanced the 50oz but a lot of weight will have to be taken out. Rebalancing wont be much cheaper than a new balancer and flywheel/flex. And taking a 28oz imbalance to a 50oz is counterproductive anyway.

Well I had that brainiac idea doing my 347 on the machine about 1100rpm it almost jumped off using my 50oz stuff. You can't do it.

just buy the proper flexplate/flywheel for a 351 swap into a 5.0

+1

pretty much every major drivetrain component company makes either a 50 or 28oz 157 tooth flywheel...
