Default Cam swap

I have a 89 gt with e7's, bbk ssi intake, and 1.7 roller rockers. I did not replace the lifters, and the roller busted off of one causing the remaining part of the lifter to groove the cam lobe. I have stock valve springs, so should I put in another stock cam or a small aftermarket cam like the b303? The heads have had some port work, so they could flow at a little higher lift. It is coil bind that I'm concerned about. Thanks

Why the spring upgrade? Would a .548 lift I'd get from a tfs stage one cause my current springs to bind?

The lifts will be. 530/.542 with the 1.7s. Yes too much for ur current spring.

Jegs recommended the 266 comp cam, which is larger than the tfs stage 1. The jegs representative knew I had stock springs. Anyone know a definitive coil bind number for stock springs?
I have a friend with an e303...could I run that?

he said that because it costs twice as much...

and NO do NOT use a letter cam, use a TFS 1 cam...

IIRC coil bind on the exhaust (which have less lift potential then the intakes) is around .500" lift

+1 use the tfs and correct spring. E7heads quit flowing at. 500 lift no need for anything bigger unless its duration.

Then why are you recommending a cam that goes above .500 lift?

^^^^you are focussing on the wrong aspect of what springs to choose, when choosing a spring, coil bind is checked for and you shouldn't base a spring choice for a cam soley on that single aspect, open and closed pressures are more important, AND NO stock springs won't work for ANYTHING other than a stock cam...including ABC cams, they barley support the stock cam
