Auto trans question (NHRA RULES)
#13
you guys are all jacked up in this thread.
Saying that a car cannot start in neutral is absurd... the neutral safety switch is there to ensure that the car IS in neutral, or park. The tech guy saying that you cannot have the car start in neutral is way ****ing wrong. Just about any, maybe even every, late model auto car will start in neutral.
Starting in neutral.... not against SFI regulations... otherwise people couldnt race bone stock cars!

I agree with you adder on it not sounding right BUT it is NHRA and they make the rules for themselves not for auto mfg. I have seen them shoot down factory battery hold downs. and not let you run a stock set belt with a roll bar or without a fire jacket even when the car didnt need a bar (et or MPH) do to there rules the guy just had one in it. and no the bar did not interfere with the seat belt in anyway. There have been a few strange things I have seen. I am waiting to see if they make someone have a kill switch when they see that some of the new GM have the battery in the trunk and under the back seat. There rules are there own they dont care about FACTORY cars is what I have seen. We went down this road in tech with one of the tech guys a few years ago about something that I cant remember now. But I do agree that I would think that the car should only start in neutral and park. But I have not looked at a rule book for awhile.
