Speedo Gear question
Trying to find a spedo gear to correct for the 4.10's in my car. All that is listed on LMR are for 5 speeds and AOD. Where would i find one for the 3spd auto, or will the AOD one work.

you need to know what gear ratio you had stock, and what gearsets your transmission is currently using. Go check your speedo drive and driven gear, get the tooth counts, nd report back.
this chart MIGHT help http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g3...ogearchart.jpg |
okay... not sure if you answered my question or not.
So to put it this way, I went from 2.73 to 4.10 and need a 23 tooth speedo gear. All that is listed on the late model resto website are for either a 5spd or an AOD. I have neither so would one for an AOD work with my C3? |
ah, just read something that said the c4 and t5 use the same gear. Anyone know if this is correct.

I want to know: What gears you had stock. What color and tooth count your vehicle speed sensor gear is. If your speedo sensor DRIVE gear (the one in the trans) is plastic or metal. If you can't answer these questions, don't bother posting again... because without that info, WE CAN'T HELP YOU! |

why do you think you need a 23t ?
ford never made a 23t, the white plastic 23t is actually a jeep part. the main thing you need to know is how many teeth on the driven gear. unfortunately aotomatics (all of them ?? maybe?) have the driven gear as part of the output shaft, it's just machined on there. so if it's a 8t(like an aod)... you cannot correct for 4.10's and you dont really wanna use the 23t either... you'd rather bump to a 6t with a 19 or 20t also.... first u said c3... then c4, those are both 3 speeds but i think somewhere in that era was the srod 4 speed. my guess is that the output shafts are the same though... in all 3 trannies, but thats a guess, i dont do automatics tooth count on the outputshaft is key though |
