i see you are a CA driver. if the car is to be driven on the street, better be sure your parts will be CARB legal right down to the cai, or NO smog cert.

That's why I chose to leave Cali after the military! Plus u can't get non emissions stamped parts shipped there unless you lie and say its for your race car!

Yeah CA has some of the most pungent smog laws out there so make sure you check up on all that.

One question that hasn't been asked but what are you looking to do with this car? Reason I ask is to help choose a cam/head setup for the car. The Steeda 19 cam is pretty decent for a quick daily driver but if you're looking for a track monster it's not as good. On the flip side, other cams may be better suited for track racing but will kill any street use of the car. Another question if racing are we talking drag racing or auto cross? Both have a huge effect on where you'd want your power to be at, the steepness of gears, etc.

yeah i live in CA, lol it is pretty strict but their are ways around getting a smog cert im not worried about that , and most cops like to mess with the cars of the rice sort , anyways, i plan on driving it daily for now more like a weekend warrior (drag), my goals and intentions is to have a streetable 12 sec N/A car , i want to be able to hang / beat the new camaros and stangs, .. i want something i can drive around daily with but i'd rather not stroke it just yet, im in the process of buyin a new house so funds are a lil low ( no stroking yet), the car is completely stock besides ac delete, 5speed, with 130k original miles. any head cam and intake combo suggestions?

Well if your goal is the 11gt better save up! Camaro is easier to get in front of. Haven't seen a camaro yet that has impressed me any.

Are these patriot heads aluminum also? I couldn't find this on their site or google'n. Seem like great heads for the price. I was sold on the AFR's but these could get me to my goal a lot quicker money wise. Also, the 185's not too big? Seems like most posts i've read seem to lean to the 165's?

valvetrain components/ quality there of are low line, just as are the eldelbrock e street heads, all these heads that fall under the 1k price tag use cheap valvetrain components, there are tons of threads out there with valvetrain failure on patriot heads, e street heads...ect ect.....look over on the corral.....valvetrain is not where you wanna skimp

Well anyone with aggressive camshafts in mind would be doing vlvtrain upgrades right. Better springs for your cam and a rocker girdle for the 3/8 studs!

Thanks for the reply guys. After I posted I did some more research and didn't like what I saw regarding the Patriot heads. I think i'm stil in the market for my initial instinct of the AFR heads. Still saving for all of the components, but threads like these are always helpful.
