T-5 Death Bed
Hi guys, my 2nd gear synchronizer is going out in my T-5, and I would really rather not have it rebuilt/replaced, I'm about to be running a s/c, and "maybe" some engine work in the future, and I would rather not break it again. Would a T-45 from a 96-98 cobra, be a nice replacement/upgrade, and shift as smoothly as a T-5? Or any other transmission be a good replacement? Thanks.

The t45 wont work on a 5.0, it has a different bolt pattern.
|
Yep, it wont work. Different pattern.

3550, TKO or T56 if you want something better.
you can get in touch with Astro Performance and make your T5 pretty stout too, its about ~25lbs lighter than the nest lightest option listed btw. up to you |
Ok. Thanks. That blows. So, Astro performance can rebuild it to make it stronger, to have a higher hp rating?

how over the top are you looking to go? moderndriveline.com offers a T5Z for the SN95's that uses an Australian Falcon's IPS that doesnt require a pilot bearing spacer like Astro's do, but its only good for 350tq or so |
I'm looking for one thats good to about 400hp. So after my s/c is put on, and later decide to maybe do some engine work, I dont destroy it pulling out the shop. lol But I have pitched around the idea of a TKO cobra r tranny, but my wallet cries every time I see that $2000 price tag, but might be worth it.

would you rather spend $3000 on a GREAT trans, or blow $1000 a couple of times when you grenade a T5 several times... |
