Default EFI to Carb? Shed some light?!?!?

What drives people to take an efi motor and time travel it back to the old set up of carb? I really have no understanding for it. HP gain? or just a personal prefrence thing? I dont understand and sorry if this is in wrong place.

i converted mine to carb because the wiring was so hacked in it that it wasnt even funny.and i was going for a clean factor and its much easier to work on

Depending on what you're converting from and to, you might pick up a bit of top end hp, but usually not enough to matter. The biggest advantage is simplicity, a lot less crap in the engine compartment.

HMMM didnt even think about it from the side of cleaned up. Simplicity I can understand, but to my knowledge carbs are a b**ch anda half to set up and get working properly. Again definatly notta knowit all kinda guy, but im building a 429 SCJ. This project is one that im sure will take till the wee old days of my life but its something i enjoy workin on. The last time my uncle and i sat down he told me to just buy a new carb. because the one i have would have to be reworked..... So i geuss ill figure out more when the time comes for putting that together.

Carbs can be a major pain to set up in some cases. You have to know what you're doing.

Some reasons I switched
1.Cleaned up engine bay
2.Simple to work on,only 3 things to look for if your car wont run...fuel,spark,air,and on a carb car in my opinion its simpler to diagnose compared to having a bunch of sensors and what have ya.
3.Really not hard to set up as some think.
But I will say,if I was to have a blower or turbo car I would prefer EFI for the tuning aspect.

i got just 2 sensors on mine, but those are the oil pressure and water temp sensor so my stock gauges will work.then i got a power for my distributor and a tach wire.those are it other than alt harness and starter cable.its pretty clean under the hood and i pulled off the headers the other day and i didnt have to take anything off the motor to pull the headers out other than the spark plug boots.

The reason that I stayed with carb on my car is that I've worked with carbs for 40+ years and have a huge pile of parts around here.
IMHO, they will help the top end power by a bunch......
