Default 302/306 piston and rod kits?????

I am looking to build a fresh engine for my next project instead of a junkyard motor. The only piston rod kit I know if is from dss and it is like 800 bucks. Anyone know of a good deal out there or is that the best besides using my rods and buying a set of trws.

The combo will be a 62mm turbo and probably a set of gt40s if I can find some. I may go with an aftermarket set of heads but, with a turbo, I really see it as useless since I know I can make the power without them.

Try this
www.coasthigh.com
Or
Search 'probe' pistons/rods on line.
I don't understand the part about using GT40 heads when there are many good heads out there that won't cost any more than you'll spend on GT40's getting good valves in them and all that you'll need.
I can make HP on a 2bbl carb but I use a 4 BBL........

I have been debating better heads. Even a complete engine at that. A few weeks ago, a fellow on ebay had a pretty nice looking fox on ebay he was trying to sell. 347 with eddy heads, ptk turbo kit, aeromotive fuel system amd tko 600. Only thing really done to the car was axles and subframes from what I could tell from the pics. It still had street tires on the car with a pretty set of chrome wheels.

Anyways, he is selling the car as a roller now. I called him and he said he had sold the transmission. The engine he claimed only had 500 miles of street miles. He said it was a chp shortblock with girdle, eddy heads and some kind of intake. (He was from Mexico apparently so I really couldn't understand his English very well) He said the fuel rails and 60lb injectors would be included. Said I could get it for 2500.

Not really a bad deal if he knew how to tune it and didn't screw something up. Only thing is, I really don't want to go past 450hp to far on a stock block and I feel the 347 would be overkill. I believe I could hit that goal with a set of gt40s and 10lbs or less. I also have new springs on my gt40p heads that I could use on the 40s.

I have a buddy that lives down the road from me that has a set of srp pistons on some kind of h-beam rod for 250. It needs one piston from a nitrous explosion which is about 75 bucks. If I went that route, I would need a large cc head like an afr with the 72cc chamber. Once again though, I feel a h-beam would be overkill what I am going to do in a stock block. Going this route, I still have to buy bearings, rings, lifters, pushrods, valve covers, rockers and so on.

Going with the gt40s, at least I have the springs, rockers and valve covers out the way. I may just grind the valves in the heads also since we have the machine to do it at work. I am not for sure going this route because I could always sell some stuff but, it is just easier this way.

We have a 306 short block that we took back because the guys girlfriend got a tad upset that Eric would make you a deal on.

She was really ticked off.....

She must have been lol. I will consider it but, I am afraid shipping may kill the deal on it.

That engine may not live very long if you try pieceing togather a set of pistons.
It will need to be balanced anyway.
GT heads are 302 parts, the finished engine will only make 302 type power.
If you are going to the trouble of building it, make some power......

I may just take a chance on an engine. I would rather build one cheap so it is done the way I want it. But, if I buy a motor with aluminum heads and good internals for a good deal, I can always get some money back out of it I do decide to sell it. I just don't trust motors I can't see run.

with 6lbs of boost and a stock cam I am pusing the 400 mark now at 5200 rpm. I really don't want to make much more power than that.
