Default Boost on my 87?

I have the Gt40 bcam crate in my 87 its for my wife and we are thinking of going with a turbo on it. Its all forged internals with main support but it isnt the new ones with the boss block.

Would 12-14psi be safe to run with 100octane, and the supporting fuel system mods?

Engine has about 8000 miles on it so i dont believe it to have any wear issues!

Thinking on the on3performance 70mm single kit!

no need for 100 octane. Put a good intercooler on the kit and itll make enough power to split the block.

Well I`m not to concerned with the block its pretty fresh dosent have the years of wear and tear on it.

We will prolly stay around 10psi until she gets use to it. I like running the 100 for many reasons other than detination.

you think it`ll make 200 more hp than it does now? Thats about how far it is away from splitting the block power!

It dyno`d 268rwhp and 298rwtq, but it only has the crate as an upgrade as of now ofcourse with intake and exaust, stock fpr, stock 19`s, stock fuel pump. That was on 10*base no tune. It went lean at 4700 if i remember correctly 18:1, I believe with the fuel issue fixed it`d be closer to 280/310 on the dyno. But it isnt really bad for a SD car I`m in the process of doing the MAF conversion now!

it will make that much power!!! go on corral.net under there turbo section and you will see 100 octane seems alittle crazy especially if your making it a daily. 10psi 93 an intercooler will be fine

Ok for the second time i`m not running 100 for insurance it has far more useful effects! For a little over a 1$ more than 93 i cant pass it up!

BTU count per volume
Carbon Scavenging
Detination additives
true 100 oct rating
not to mention it clean your fuel system.

Pump gas

less BTU count
dirty Fuel
not true 93 oct

dont know if you are familiar with my old combo but it was a gt40 b cam crate motor as well with a tfs street heat intake and a s trim. Was running 12psi non intercooled with 36* timing taking out 1.1* per psi on 93 octane, made 509 to the rear wheels via a tko600. Went to a c4 starting running 100 octane turbo blue and started backing off on how much timing we took out. End of the year we put 110 in it and did not take any timing out of it. Went 10.47 at 130 in a 3205lb car with a mild 4400 stall. Took the motor out and took it to a engine dyno before I sold it to a guy for 3800 bucks it made 659 to the crank with 623 ftlbs. on 12psi. Ran that motor at that power level for over 4 years without hurting a single engine componet. The tune was awesome on the thing ran great and drove like a street car. I would beat the snot out of it on a daily basis taking it up to the redline many times a day. The motor should handle it no problem as long as you have a great tune in it. Also helps if you have an intercooler that would make it even more reliable. PM me if you got any questions on that setup im not an expert but i had that combo running really good.

It is a lot of cash for 100 when it all adds up but, I see your point. I have bought 87 octane before and ended up with 93. I could imagine it happens the other way around more than people think.

I would have a tuner do a tune to maybe get it run on 87 then go with 93 at the tanks. With low enough timing it should be close to working if it doesn't. I never did try my 87 tune but, was told it would work on 87. When we added the timing it made another 70 horsepower so I imagine it would have worked. I was only running 6lbs of boost.

Then get another tune for the 100. I doubt it would cost that much more. Or at least it wasn't for me. Both of my tune with a switch chip including anther meth tune cost me 500.

Also with the maf conversion, I would get the maf the tuner wants. Of course you will need larger injectors, run colder plugs, new fuel filter and get a wideband.
