Gas just kept filling and filling and filling.

Gas just kept filling and filling and filling.
I was at the pump a few months ago and was filling up the tank for a road trip. I already had about a hald tank, so I started pumping until I got to another $50. I literally said damn is there a hole in my tank. Looked under the car and nope. Drove about 3 miles home. Later I went to leave and sure enough the tank was leaking. I could really smell it in the trunk badly. I have since never filled up and had no problems. .
Anyone have any idea what the hell that might've been?

My boy adder here has already given the correct answer A YEAR AGO. When the original post was made. Why are you bumping an old thread.
And what the hell is "reporting" fords 20 year old car going to do? Are you trying to watching Michigan fall into a deeper pit? Who's side are you on here man. Last thing any of us want on this forum is a bad environment rep going out towards our cars.
I had the identical problem and made a post about it a while back. I don't even think you read this whole thred. Your just here causing **** pointing fingers at the automakers. Get your facts straight.
Its all the dam ethanol that is causing the issue with failing fuel tank liners, clogged fuel filters, and wrecked filler gromments. You humanities heros with your "forms" and "save the world" attitude actually caused this problem by tossing corn into our octane !
Now normally I wouldn't get angry, but seriously man, your going around bumping year old threads, that already have the correct answer, to report about a manufacture when it isn't there fault. I'm sick to my stomach to see you from Michigan, and are wasting both our times.
Good day,
