Battery tray area before/after pics!
Let me start by stating the obvious, I'm no professional, and am kinda learning by doing. It's pretty rewarding to work on my car and learning...
First the battery tray area. The old battery wasn't bad, but the tray was trashed and old, and the area underneath had surface rust and looked like absolute hell. I removed the old stuff, sanded the area, cleaned it, used POR15 rust remover, scraped and cleaned again, masked, rust-fixed by Duplicolor to kill the rust, primed & painted. Here's a few pics...
The before:
Getting under way:
Masked, primed and painted:
Some comparison(s) before/after:
And the new tray then battery in:
Going to buy new cables eventually also. Would have liked to have done more, but was focused on this specific area (because it was the only area in need, and the only area with any surface rust, probably due to little battery acid may have leaked over the years). I had the paint professionally mixed (matches awesome!) and put into spray cans by Wesco (great people!). Will be doing the whole engine bay when I get a new engine.
One last thing, here's a before and after of something I was just messing around with...re-did my front mouldings because of some scuffs that were on it when I bought it, and used the some of my matched paint to redo the drivers side corner (I know there's a knick in the bumper cover) because of an ugly blemish. I was just messing around to see what I could do with it, and will be buying a whole new bumper cover when the car gets repaint in a few years...until then...
Before/after front end touch up:
Sorry for the looooong write up, just wanted to share!

Thanks y'all! On the mouldings, I used Rust-oleum 'Paint for Plastic' designed specifically for this type of stuff. You just scuff it up or light sand any areas that need it, quick clean it, and mask and shoot. Not designed to use any primer. Strong stuff, I've washed my car at a do-it-yourself carwash with the high pressure nozzle, and no issues at all.
