Default gt40p swap prep

I'm swapping a gt40p engine in my 88 and had a couple more questions of what I need. The engine is out of a 98 mountaineer so for the gasket kit do I get the set for the 98 or 88? Also for the oil pickup tube, pump and driveshaft what year would that be for?

The answer to your question... is in your question.

Answered your own question in the first quote.

You will also want to make sure you buy some GT-40P specific headers.

Thanks, they are the old ones though with the eyebrow coolant passage. I had them surfaced and they were only out around the fire rings. I told him about the 9333pt1 I was going to use and he said they will do the same thing since they are not pre-flattened. I am going to use them anyways, even though they will ruin the head surface.

I was hoping someone would say that. This guy does do this for a living though. Whether he has seen it with aluminum heads with a 9333, I don't know. I just know that he claims they will do the same thing since they are not a race gasket.
Don't get me wrong, the graphite fel-pros that were on the motor would have sealed. And they had some monster fire rings. But, the fire rings left circles around the chambers on the head. Probably from heating up and cooling off so many times. These heads had been on that motor for a while even though they claimed 89k.

I imagine he took about 7 thou off the heads. He put them on there 4 times. Every time he pulled them off, they still had fire ring indentions. No warpage from overheating at all.

Regardless, I am going to put them on anyways and find out for myself.

Ha ha ha. Very nice adder, I had a feeling that was the case. Second guessing myself has always been a problem. Now with the headers from what ive read stock mustang headers will work correct? The reason I ask is I already have equal lengths which I know won't work. But I don't have the 250 to spend on another set of headers so until I find someone to trade with I was hoping to use just my stock headers

I will kill you in your sleep if you use the stock headers.
