Oil weight

Default Oil weight

Just wondered what oil you guys run ? When we built our motor we ran break in oil. Then i did a few oil changes with regular ole motorcraft 5W30 but I think I'm going to switch now. I was thinking about 10W30. Thoughts ?

AFR 165's
E-303
Edelbrock air gap
roller rockers ect.

I've always ran 10-40
But it is very hot where I'm at so I think it's pretty good

I run 10w-30, but it doesn't get much colder than 30* F during the winter here.

I run 10w30 in my pushrod motors whether its 120* here in Texas or -20* back home in Indiana.

Amsoil Dominator 15w-50. Heavier oil protects better.

Factory oil weight is based on mileage standards, so they move to the light side. If you plan on flogging an engine I wouldn't run anything less than a 40wt.

Alright. I think I'm gonna run 10W30 The coldest temps it'll ever get driven in is 50-55*

Not exactly true, it provides more cusion, but it also can't fit fit into smaller clearances. If it can't fit into them, they don't have any protection. That's why we don't run gear oil in our engines lol

I was told previous owners run 10w40 in my engine, so that's what I use.
