Default 1983 GT 5.0/4 speed

Im, very lightly considering trading my Daily Driver Jeep for an 83 GT....Its really up in the air.

My jeep is a 1993 Grand Wagoneer ZJ
5.2 Liter V8, Multi-Port Fuel Injected
46RE trans
4X4
Dana 30/35C axels
Interior is all woodgrain and leather, like new inside.
A/C works but has the common 0-ring leak at the compressor/manifold (15 dollar fix).
Within the last 9 months, trans serviced and bands adjusted, PCV valve replaced, engine oil/filter, fuel pump relay replaced, new Hell 500FF flood lights, all new exterior lights and bulbs, has new tires front and rear but the fronts and rears are the same tread but not the same brand (name brand and the equivalent offbrand).

New brake pads
Rebuilt front driveshaft

Basically the only flaw on it is the metal trim around the exterior woodgrans is peeling, and it got brushed by another suv on the passengers side and put a small dent in one of the lips on the rear wheel well. Paint on the hood is faded, but no rust at all anywhere.

The car im looking at and the guy wants to trade for is a 83 GT 5.0, He says it has 138K miles, its red/black exterior. Says engine and the SROD were recently rebuilt and the carb was rebuilt, says it runs and drives great and has shorty headers, no cats, and it sounds great. Says it needs "COsmetic TLC". Has no radio or A/C controls....

I have no experience with Fox Body mustangs...anything I should be aware of on the 83's? Is it worth trading a clean reliable vehicle worth about $3000 dollars for, if I dont HAVE to do the deal?

576 views..wow!

Another question, why was the SROD 4 speed considered undesirable and a "credit option" over the T5?

I had a 83 gt and I hated the 4 speed. Around town you could not drive in 4th had to keep it in 3rd. Then the engine rpm's were real high in 3rd. It was like it needed another gear in between. At the time I had the car, I could not find any parts available for the 4 speed. So interesting it is rebuilt. They also had a weak rear end. Look for cracks in the floor boards front and back.
Went back and looked again at it, and seen where the rear has been upgraded to the 8.8
