Default Will AFR 185's fit on a stock bottom end???

I found a really good deal on a pair of afr 185's that one needs very minor work but I just looked on AFR's website and they said that the 185's wil not fit a stock motor even with a stock cam without notching the pistons...Is that absolutley true??? I am not taking my motor apart nor out of the car if it is...I wanted to have them fixed and install them in a weekend.

Please help??? Should I buy them or pass them up...Man I really wanted some afr's...What set of heads are comparable and that will match my sytemax intake besides these without tearing into my low mileage bottom end?

Has everyone that run afr's been into the bottom end of there 302?

I'd do a 'pass' on them, they are too much cylinder head for a stock engine and they require the supporting mods like camshaft, increased compression etc to even work right.
Look for deals on Edelbrock ferformer heads or something with about 170cc's of intake.

TFS TW will work and the AFR 165 will work and some of the Edelbrock stuff will work. Or you and get a cutter and cut the pistons in the car if you want to get down a dirty. you use to be able to rent them. whats with worrying about it being low miles you could take it apart and have the pistons cut and them put it back together if you want to also.

you cant run any 2.02" intake valved head without the possibility of running into PtV issues. Notching the pistons CAN be done with the engine still in the car. I have done it, and would do it again. You just need to buy the right tools, prep your work area properly, and be very careful.

Do what we told you to do before, and run the on3performance.com turbo kit. The kit will make enough power to break your stock block WITHOUT any added on performance parts.

Thats what im begining to lean at. Its just that I found them for $350 with upgraded springs, push rods and valves but one needs a new valve seat redone and a sparkplug hole helicoiled. But if its too much head for a stock bottom then I will definitly not consider them at all...

I waiting to go over to the guys house to at least see them...They may be really bad or an easy fix as he states. How much would people pay for a pair of 185's after it came back from the machine shop ready to bolt on? For a fast sale that is?
