Help deciding whether to buy 1990 Mustang LX

Why are these threads even made? It's a flippin' 5.0 mustang. By now you should just expect that you most likely will have to get a new engine or put lots of labor into the current one. I'd say offer him 1900 and then go to town. The skys the limit with these cars and with how cheap parts are for them, don't worry to much about whether it runs or not.

I would be concerned mostly about rust on car " the cancer" the car is 21 years old look it over really good by the strut towers near the motor mount area's, floor panels back towards rear of car where all that water and salt go too check the doors see if they close smooth. You will never find a rust free car, but you must take a good look to see if you got something that's worth fixing up?

Rust (cancer), front end collisions, and running/driving...those are the only things I'd worry about for a project car. I've dealt with cars that had front end collisions and it's not something you wanna get involved with trust me. A backfire could be a simple fix. If the radio, ac, and heat works and all the electrical wiring is intact and all the other accessories are functioning (turn signals, wipers, horn, etc...) and the body is solid and the interior is at least halfway decent then I'd say offer him $1800 cash. Truth be told tho, you can find high mileage 94-95 GT's in pretty nice condition from $2500-$3500 at dealerships.
