One thing I love about the 5.0...it takes longer to clean/prep for new gaskets than it does to disassemble the damn thing lol

HEADS are off John, melted the ground strap on #7 plug and blew the passanger side head gasket on the top side , pushed the firing ring on 2 and 3 right into the triangle water passages on the top side, bad part is it blew it wide open and sprayed the intake valley with coolant and pcv sucked it in filled the intake with coolant, what a freakin mess!!! pistons are really clean, all of them, looks like it was lean, which I sort of knew

no, not really Justin, when I dumped a lot of coolant out of the upper plenuim I was concerned I cracked the block, but when I saw where the gasket blew, I then knew how the coolant got in the valley which is where the pcv pulls from.........either way in the next few days, I'll yank the short block out and tear it apart to check bearings to address the oil pressure issues it has had as well as oil consumption prob, most likely , the crank will get turned and all new bearings and rings....for now I got a bit of clean up on the heads and intake.

Nice first pass! 'vert might have had some 10's in it! haha.

From the sounds of the plug being burned up, and the way the gasket blew, you are lucky to not have a blown piston!

Are you going to get the car dyno tuned? or have you considered a Anderson PMS?

^^^it's getting 42's or 48's and a matching maf then it'll go to have a dyno tune, I just don't have the time to mess with a PMS. Anywhere around the 11.50 range is fine with me on this car, I don't intend to race it much due to it being a vert, just want to get a safe tune on it yet still make decent power for street fun

Sounds good. I'm sure you can get 11.50's pretty easy, just going to have to be semi-aggressive with that tune, or you will be stuck in the low 12's i bet.

I just bought a anderson PMS used for a good deal so thats why I ask. Its going to take a bit to learn this thing, and tune the car as precise as I like, even with how simple its supposed to be to use.

it better not be low 12's, it ran 12.50's n/a , if all I can pick up is a few tenths with 12 psi something is terribly wrong in the tune, i may do meth to keep temps down in the cyl's...we'll see

so the deck of the heads are OK? thats a + I have had to have ours welded up a couple times as you know Mike. wash the intake out with some lacquer thinner it will draw the moisture out of it. If you are having issues getting it out. look very close at the rods and pistons and the block as you know make sure the pistons move easy on the pins and all. detonation can tear up stuff with boost on higher level then on anything N/A
