DART blocks are finished, they dont need the final honing like the BOSS blocks do...

I cant spray my stock block enough without needing a stainless firewall to get the point across...
as I find new questions ill post here and see what you guys have to offer... Thanks so far!
Was not talking about you when i mentioned machine work it was to the guy that said the dart doesnt need as much machine work. Sorry if that came across wrong

No worries as for machining lol you would be a moron to final hone a bore any spec since you dont know the exact piston fitment! In a set of 8 2 might be number spot on spec thats why there +- in the specs... This is far from my first engine but is the first aftermarket block build otherwise this thread wouldnt exist.

agreed, i guess im not really getting my point across to others (not you) in that people talk about blocks needing more or less machining. Either way if your gonna buy a 2000+ dollar block machine work should not be part of your budget. most people dont realize its more then just boring the block and decking it. Lifters holes need work and bushings (id suggest bronze) along with a whole lot of other things. Thats what i was really getting at. If you spend the money for an aftermarket block whether or not it needs more or less machine work to get it ready to build shouldnt be of a concern because your gonna have it all done anyways

I think the biggest you can go with a boss block is a big bore 347 and not have the issues mike stated.

Well since the bb is the 363 unit the idk what issues could occur since the bore is the only factor not piston hieght... If the cylinders were shorter then anything over a 331 would be too much right or am I not seeing the (problems).

the cylinder skirts are the prob, they are too short, the stroker pulls the piston nearly out, which is why the boss block uses special pistons, meaning shorter skirts, but that in itself causes issues/longevity cause it allows piston rock.....I'll see if i can find the thread on the corral that addresses this issue

here, this is the only one I can find at the moment but when woody/ ford strokers and Mark O'NEAL /owner CHP say they won't do them, there is a good reason.
