Default Need some ignition lock and steering column help!

I have a 90 gt and i thought i had a bad ignition lock...my car wouldnt stay running unless i held the key slighty when it was running...as soon as i let it go it shut off. I replaced the ignition lock and still did the same thing. Can the steering column itself go bad? Also the turn signals are not working because of it either

remove the trim around the column and inspect the plug that goes into the ignition switch
