1986 mustang dash problem

Hey everyone i'm new to this site so im sorry if im posting in the wrong area. I'm rebuilding an 86 5.0 vert (irrelevant) and replaced my dash bulbs just today. I've never had a four eyed mustang so im new to them. My problem is, I replaced them and they're dim even at full brightness. does anyone know if there is a specific 194 led that can make it brighter? if so, where can i get them and for how much? ill be driving this car often at night and theyre barely visible so i want to know which bulbs make them brighter. i tried pilot 194 leds from pep boys thinking that theyd be worth the 10 dollars they were for a 2 pack and i put them in the rearview mirror lights and they suck. if anyone has advice please let me know!!!

Dash illumination problems have nothing to do with the LED quality. More than likely voltage to the cluster.

I think it was the led itself though, I may be wrong. I tested the voltage and it was fine, i tried it in the rearview mirror as well and It was still dim. then I tried it on my mountaineer and it was still really dim. It's just a single led, My friend bought 3chip 5led 194 bulbs and they're bright as hell. I just don't know if they will fit in the dash though. I'll have to buy them and try it out

I'm not sure about the '86 head light switch for the mustangs, but my '87 ranger head light switch can be turned to brighten or dim the dash lights.
