Default Question on clutch install

So this coming week is spring break, and instead of going to florida I am enjoying it by putting the motor back in the mustang to get her roaring for spring. I have to put the new clutch on the motor. I watched a film on youtube on how to do it, had a good idea already. Just want to know recommendations for putting grease on some of the parts, like the input shaft and the throw out bearing? Use break cleaner to clean the flywheel and pressure plate correct? Thanks a lot guys, I am so jacked to finally be to this part of my car. And yet, the list of things I want to do just seems to go to the mooon.

yeah, you want to put anti-seize on the shaft where the bearing rides and clean the flywheel with brake cleaner. Make sure to pull the pressure plate down evenly and re-adjust the cable when done and you should be good.

So, instead of grease use anti-seize, sounds good. Question on adjusting the clutch, have never done that either. I did not change out anything on the stock cable system. Where do I adjust the clutch cable? I have read that I am suppose to have about an inch in play with the pedal before it starts to do its thing, thats correct? Thanks man.

anti-seize is what I have always used.

With the stock set-up, you will lift up on the pedal. Then push it to the floor. There are some plastic gears on the pedal that will reset when you pick up on the pedal.

you really should replace the stock plastic 30 yr old dry rotted parts with a god adj clutch quadrant and cable

grease will splatter on the flywheel or pressure plate and ruin your clutch disk

clean all the finger prints off with brake cleaner and call it a day

use a steel bearing retainer cuz the aluminum one mauls and gouges

bob, I do plan on doing that, at this point though I just need to get the car running and out of the garage due to the lease being up at the current house im at. That is a summer plan along with an electric fan and body work. How hard is it to do taht quadrant, I have read its not to hard but is annoying?

Hardest part for me was getting the plastic gears out. They had to be turned a certain way to get it done.

I ordered the cable and firewall adjuster too but ended up just re-using my stock cable. Works good.
