Automatic, Only works in reverse. Cause?
Ok, so Im looking at a donor mustang for some parts to go on mine. I found a 95 GT, but it has an automatic tranny and he says it only works in reverse. Now Im all fine with butchering a car with a busted tranny for parts, but if its fixable... I might just fix it and drive that one instead! Anyhow. Ive read somewhere it could be the forward drive drum? Is this hard to replace on these?

Yes check the fluid lvl first the aode holds 13.5qts if its 2 qts low it wont drive forward but if it has been ran long like that then the forward clutches are likely smoked! it isnt hard to do but you do have to be mechanically inclined to do it! You can get a stock rebuild kit for under 200$.

I am mechanically inclined. Biggest project Ive done is a headgasket on a nissan KA24. But Ive done a load of other stuff too. Well, I guess I have to do two transmission rebuilds. Ive got a 92 f350 with an automatic. I overheated it towing and it dumped a crapload of tranny fluid. It will move, but it dumps out nearly all of its transmission fluid to move. Im hoping its just a seal and not the whole tranny...
