Default 347 Stroker MPG

Hey guys-
I just bought a 91 Mustang with a 347 Stroker. Right as I was leaving with the car, the guy told me the reason he was selling it was because it only got 7mpg ! Does this sound right? I mean, it seems pretty rediculous for a motor with street heads (andersons i believe) and n/a. Could it be that the ECU needs a tune or something? I have no idea, and I cant decide whether or not to sell this or my bonestock 90 GT.

Sounds like something isn't built right, not surprising. There's no way it should be getting only 7 mpg.

dunno by the time you get done with gears and all it might not go too far but 7 sounds a little low unless he could not keep his foot out of it.

10 to 12 should be about normal. By normal I mean driving the Mustang like a Mustang. Have you filled it up and checked the milage for yourself?

My full on N/A drag car uses a sort of a 347 and I'd bet that I get better than 7MPG.
I think the car needs a tune and a good looking at by somebody that knows all the specs on whats inside the engine.

A really wild (or is that fun) cam could net you 7 mpg...while a mild cam could net you 15 mpg (or more). My mileage has been varying from 13.5 to 15, and my O2 sensors are not yet connected. Would you believe my 13.5 has been on track days????
