exhaust
Ok i have a 93 hatch and im getting a set of shorty headers and want to run 3 1/2 feet of pipe right off th header and be finished with my exhaust for now. The question i have is would this be a bad idea performance wise on a daily driver due to lack of back pressure

3.5 feet should be enough back pressure but it will be really loud and vibrate the hell out of you. i had shorties on my fox when i had it and it had 40 series flows dumped at the axle and it just felt like you were in a rumble seat and it got annoying. but hey some people like it. but performance wise it shouldn't hurt the engine. what i was always told from old drag racers is paint the pipe with any color paint and crank the car up let it run and where the paint quits burning off cut the pipe off there and that should be a safe point of back pressure. i have never tried that.
