How hard is this???
 

How hard is it going to be to change the oil pan gasket? Can I do it myself or am I going to have to pay the 400 bucks at a shop to have it done? Also, there's a rubber gasket I can get, which kind of gasket would you all recomend??

Depends on if you have all the tools and how hard you want to work bc it's a big p.i.t.a. I would probably recomend paying the $400 and I'm saying that being a mechanic. Plus if there is any leaks the shop who does it will have to fix it for you ; ostead of you having to go back into it.

But I used the felpro blue rubber gasket on mine and love it no leaks at all.

I would do it myself, but I agree they are a royal pain to do under the car, with oil dripping all around you. Felpro rubber gasket all the way! Are you sure it's the oil pan versus something else, e.g. rear main seal or timing cover?

Oil seems to drop for several days. Just saying.

+1 with blue, the job is DIY doable, but it is a tough, dirty, time consuming job.

Make certain that the pan is cleaned well and the oil pickup screen is flushed well before reassembly. If they find a lot of gunk in the oil pan, it would be a good idea to do the valve covers as well. The valve covers are a much easier DIY project.

Try replacing the oil pan when it's under the car. I have the tools but it didn't take me that long. I would not waste the money on it but that's just me.

It's deffinately the pan gasket...

Replacing a pan gasket in a fox requires lifting the motor out a few inches, so if you don't have a hoist, or access to one, consider it a $400 investment.
