All depends on how the car is gonna be used. The stock stall is fine for a daily driver. A drag car likes alot of stall. 3800-4000. The shifter is a matter of personal choice. Lot of good ones out there.

You don't. I was just making the point that just because somebody else thinks that a certain performance part is the "bee's knees," doesn't mean that you'll like it, too. I don't know anything about shifters for an aod, as for the fact that I've never owned one.

Only thing I know about an aod is that if you pull it into first then shift to second, then it pull it back into first, it will stay in second until you shift it out.
I got a buddy that had one built and never had nothing but trouble out of it. With the paxton and the stall converter, it was pretty quick on the street for a stock mustang. Seem like his would stall somewhere around 3.

Amazing! You forgot high capacity clutch = stick
Anyway does he plan to install a cam? If so he needs to research ana appropriate stall for that cam, otherwise might as well leave it stock. Reason being cams can be set up to work better in different ranges, and there's usually a stall to assist with the cam set up.
