well i have been driving my 85 gt for a little over a month now. the wife's exploder has crapped out so she has been rocking my escape. she loves the escape and cant wait to make it her own soon. it has been bitter sweet for me in the stang. the heat works perfectly but no ac. wile she enjoying ac in my escape, and ac at work inside all day im outside in the sun and the heat then i drove home in the heat. sometimes picking our 1year old son up n driving home in the heat. it sucks for him. something need to happen with that soon... doesnt help that the car is black. no headliner, no tint. also my driver door handle on outside is broke. i gotta finagle with it to open and sometimes it dont open. so i gotta reach threw passenger side to open driver from inside. how hard/easy is it to replace driver outside door handle mechanism. i thought about going to a u pull it. my windsheild washer squirter doesnt work. it turns on and makes noise like it should but nothing comes out. maybe hoses clogged? how can i fix this? its a pain to carry a bottle of water just to clean windshield. ill turn wipers on and dump water on windshield... every once in a wile wile limping along in 1st like stuck in traffic, i go to shift into 2nd and clutch is all the way in and itll grind sometimes like no clutch is used. wtf? only happens once in a blue moon. happened like3 times this month. or sometimes when i get on it in 1st and powershift to 2nd itll do same thing then smooth sailing rest of gears. doesnt do it all the time. weird to me,. and it just started doing this, above 70mph rear gets shaky.. like fishtales kinda. also just started happening, when i turn left with it i hear a knocking noise from right rear...these noises started like a week or so ago. ill have to jack it up this weekend n check it out. also the temp gauge. itll work its way up at low speeds but never gets too too hot. but wile going faster it stays at mid way. but if i get on it temps go up quickly like egt's on a diesel. it stays cool idling forever in traffic. whats the deal? i have a misirmoto aluminum rad... with all those wrong, it hooks good no wheel hop, i spank almost anything that lines up next to me, i got a sleeper look, lots of looks, im netting 20+ mpg when i stay off it. seats are mad comfortable... but it will all come to an end soon enough... soon my work will be too far away to drive the stang there or a truck. or escape. so i been looking aroind for a jetta tdi 99-05 stick. i dont want to give up the stang but i might have to in favor for the tdi. then in oct i will be purchasing a powerstroke.....so the wife is making a stink about me having 3 vehicals to her 1 ( my escape) so we will see who wins this battle... my dad tells me every time i see him to not get rid of the stang. he regrets mom making him get rid of his mint 67 cougar xr7 12 yrs ago...

To this day i regret getting rid of my 85, it was my dailly driver in high school no heat or ac still wish i had it

Door handle has a rod attached to it IIRC, just have to reconnect that for it to work.

Sounds like second gear syncro is on its way out. Maybe not.

Get the A/C recharged?

No idea about the temp gauge.

As for the rear end, inspect that immediately. Primarily control arms/springs/shocks. If its shaking at high speed and making a noise when cornering... May be missing a nut on a control arm bolt or something.

I was never a mustang guy... always wanted a falcon ranchero or falcon conv. But the feal presented itself n it was mine... hard to give up now...

ok ill take a look at the door rod and the rear suspension of the car sat or sun. anyone else chime in on the other prollems i got?
