Default Cruise Control Woes

Have a 94 GT and been having some issues with the cruise surging. I have replaced the servo stuff inside the fenderwell, and according to the mechanic the vacuum is fine with no leaks. Before we did that it would surge and then let off a couple miles an hour, but always gaining speed. Now since the repair attempt it still surges a little, maybe 1mph, but doesn't gain any speed, damn annoying though. Anyone have any suggestions what to check? How tight should the linkage be, I know its adjustable. I am getting ready for a long road trip on the 18th and would love to solve this before heading out in it. Thanks all.

Ok. The speed control amplifier picks up a signal from the speed sensor in the tranny, which it uses to adjust vacuum to the servo.

the amp, is that along with all that stuff under the wheelwell that I just had all put it and if the numbers aren't within range it would be the amp causing the issue? This is the second amp installed, weird how it would be the same problem.
